Rules & Regulations:

The practice of minimum charges to a cardholders for standard retail purchases is a practice that i believe is a thing of the past, or better yet should be made a thing of the past. Just this week i was made aware of a client that was in violation of this regulation. The client is now facing a minimum fine of $5000.00 from Visa and it could be more. On top of that MasterCard has its own fine to impose upon this client. This is another instance where the final word is handed down from Visa and MasterCard so there is no way out once you are caught. So if this is something you as a merchant, practice or you see it being done you might want to think twice. The crackdown has begun and i see it getting worse before it gets better.

This is all, i believe, brought into the direct light with the changing from private to public companies for both associations. Along with an increase in overall card activity. which as we know always brings an increase in Fraud.
